The Real Capital Markets executive team is comprised of
experienced professionals in commercial real estate, technology,
marketing, sales and finance. Together they help RCM1 develop and
introduce innovative, industry-leading technology for managing risk
and maximizing liquidity in capital markets.
Stephen Alter - Co-Founder / Chief Executive
Stephen J. Alter co-founded Real Capital Markets in 1999.
He has 20 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, finance
and equity joint ventures. Working for Heitman, JMB Institutional,
The Related Companies and Fairfield Residential, he was
instrumental in the acquisition and capitalization of over one
billion dollars in transaction value.
Stephen has a BBA degree with an emphasis on real estate
finance from Southern Methodist University. He has been a licensed
real estate broker since 1981 and is an active member of ICSC,
NMHC, ULI and is a licensed real estate broker in the States of
California and New York.
Tina Lichens - Chief Operating
Tina Lichens oversees both operations and finance for
RCM1. In her role as COO, Tina also provides strategic direction
for all business units and maintains key partner and client
Prior to serving as COO, Tina was Managing Director and
Director of Client Services where she provided leadership and
maintained responsibility for the experience of all Real Capital
Markets' clients. She began her career with Real Capital Markets in
2001 as Director of Research where she successfully established
processes that became the foundation for RCM1's database growth,
which now includes over 30,000 qualified commercial real estate
Prior to joining Real Capital Markets, Tina was a senior
manager at CoStar Group where she led research and COMPS report
publications for the Southern California markets as well as the
Southeastern region of the U.S.
Tina earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the
University of California, Berkeley.
Steve Shanahan - Executive
As Executive Managing Director of Real Capital Markets,
Steve Shanahan oversees the Company's Sales, Marketing and Research
functions. In addition, he plays an integral part in the
development and implementation of the company vision.
In his 11 year tenure at RCM1, Steve has forged deep
relationships within the institutional real estate community and
his ability to bring the demands and ideas of these relationships
into a functional and usable technology platform has helped fuel
RCM1's "white hot" growth over the last 8 years.

Chris Babcock - Chief
With more than 15 years of experience in Information
Technology, Chris Babcock is responsible for all aspects of RCM1's
technology execution. His responsibilities include product
development, strategic planning, vendor management, and hardware
Prior to joining RCM1, Chris held leadership positions
with Snap-on Inc. and Encyclopædia Britannica where he established
a successful track record implementing Agile and Lean Development
practices to deliver commercial software applications.
Chris earned his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of
California, San Diego.
